Gillette Razors
Gillette Razors
have been around since 1903 and they are still going strong. Even though King Camp Gillette had the idea of disposable razors in 1901, but at the time the technology did not exist to produce the T shaped disposable razors. The razor was designed to use blades that would have a close cut without cutting the skin.
Mr. Gillette had to be determined since it took about two years to get this product made. He knew he had something that was worthwhile and worth the wait getting it made.
The original concept is still used today, only it has been modified and continues to evolve with one of their top razors the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power Cartridge with thinner blades with less tug and pull where the microcomb guides the hair to be shaven. The battery powered micopulses help the overall shaving experience.
Probably the hardest part in developing the Gillette razors was finding the right material for the blade so they would be inexpensive to produce and sell. The overall concept was to also have an affordable razor. When production began they sold 51 razors and 168 blades and the sales just continued to annually multiply from there.
In 1908 factories were built all over the United States, Canada, France, England and Germany due to the world wide need for razors. By the time the First World War began in 1918 the US government ordered 3.5 million razors.
So women would not be forgotten or left out, a for women only line was develop in 1920 to take care of what was considered, unsightly underarm hair.
One of the latest Gillette razors for women is the Gillette Venus Embrace Pink Razor that has a soft grip handle and a ribbon of moisture for a smooth shave.
When you have a company with a well thought out product and strong beginnings that continue to keep up with what consumers are looking for, end up amongst the best at what do. This has been key to continued success of the Gillette razors. Their product line has increased to remove just about any type of unwanted hair possible for both men and women. The overall concept of having a disposable razor has made this a company with a product you will always have to go back to for more. But they also considered just parts being disposable such as the blade cartridge, as well as, the overall razor.
